02 — What holds it

Nothing is embroidered before it is ordered.

One person marks the motif, embroiders it into the fabric, and sets the thread tension by hand. No backing, no interlining — the tension is what holds it.

Two layers, prepared

A 280gsm cotton blend and the faux fur are cut by hand and placed together on the loom.

Tension, by hand

I set the tension myself. Too little or too much and the piece loses its shape — there is no backing to fall back on.

Embroidery, by machine

The machine lays the stitch. I decide where it goes, how wide, how deep.

Cut, by feel

The embroidery is cut open, front and back, by feel — enough to free it, never deep enough to reach the fur or the fabric beneath.

Cut to size

Hand-cut to the pillow’s final size, with a zipper closed into the seam.

I sew every piece myself, then pack and send it from the atelier.
